Will there be a Fayre this year?

The Fayre Committee is suffering from lack of support and volunteers and so has resigned en masse but they have organised a final meeting on 19th February to see if anything can be done. The Civic Society supports the Fayre and will try to help and Sarah Baker from the Civic Society will attend. It is hoped that all those voluntary organisations that have stands at the Fayre will attend & provide some help and support so that this enjoyable event continues.

Many Clubs and Local Organisations use Fayre Day as one of their main fund raising days so it is hoped that they will ALL now step forward and provide some help

– if many help it will be a burden shared, not too onerous and workable.
Albrighton & Donington expects your help NOW ...........& will thank you.
Planters – to provide some colourful flora on the High Street

The Society has contributed £1100 towards the purchase of 3 planters. The Society wishes to thank Albrighton Parish Council for their contribution of approximately £400. The planters will be sited in the High Street. If anyone would like to ‘adopt’ one – this would only involve any weeding and/or watering, please contact Mike Pitchford (01902 372016) – we are grateful to Mike and Ron Kidson for organising the planter scheme. All sourcing and planting would be done by Civic Society volunteers.

Albrighton Station

We are very pleased that the canvassing by the Civic Society and Albrighton Parish Council has finally got Network Rail to start the refurbishment of the road bridge, footbridge and platforms. The Society is now working on a further application to the Heritage Lottery Fund to save the station building from dilapidation and turn it into a centre for arts/crafts/museum activities (see our website for details) but this is subject to us securing additional funders.

Civic Society Volunteers
