1. Apologies received from Hugh Hughes.

2. Minutes of Meeting on 8th January 2010 were approved with the following change. Name of Paul Joseland to be removed from Item 1 – Paul was present

3. Actions from last meeting reviewed

4. Review Progress on

a. Village Entrance Scheme. Task Group: JB/HH/PW

JB reported a good response from D Austin Roses who will carry out all the work on the Entrance at Bowling Green Lane/Shifnal Rd including replacing a section of poor quality hedge by roses (land owner has already agreed)

Entrance at end of Patshull Rd/Shifnal Rd – JB has treated with herbicide in readiness for the clearance.

JB has arranged to get crocus bulbs at no cost. PW has received the licence to plant in the highway from SC. Marstons refused to help.

Entrance at Kingswood Rd/Bypass – Elm trees to be removed but cost is too high for ADCS to pay. PW to obtain quote from Hartwood and then ask APC for funding.

ACTION:  PW to write again for contribution from Wyevale. PL offered to have a temporary sign(s)  made showing that the work is being done by ADCS – sign to be placed adjacent to the site while work is being carried out

b. Report to the Councils. At a previous meeting it had been agreed that a Report would be prepared on the eyesores recorded in the Survey by PL & JB and presented to the four parish councils and SCs. The survey of residents views to be carried in order to prepare the New Parish Plan (see item 4e) would ask for residents “worst eyesores”. Then, if the Committee decided, the Report on Eyesores to Councils now carrying the weight of public opinion may then be prepared.

c. Civic Society Awards Scheme for Schools. Task Group: PW/DH/JB

PW received advice from Brewood CS on their scheme which is more complicated than ours so we are following John Bulmer's scheme this year and will consider for next year whether we should have a Brewood type scheme next year.

ACTION: JB & PW to speak to all three primary schools & Idsall and arrange for a closing date for entries.

  d. 5 & 6 Cross Road.

ACTION MP to report SC Highways Dept that during building of new frontage wall the public footpath was damaged (large holes in the surface which are trip hazards) and to ask them to determine if the owner or SC are to repair it. PW to write again to the owner of No. 5 to ask that the builders’ rubble be removed and to also get the Press to report it.

e. New Parish Plan (Albrighton and Donington-with-Boscobel parishes)

APC had asked ADCS to carry out the work with help from others (DPC yet to formally agree). The current document was prepared by Karen Jones who was a consultant employed by APC.

ACTION: PJ agreed to lead a sub-committee Task Group, reporting to the Main Committee at key stages, for this work. PJ to decide on task group members (from committee and/or from outside) and method of carrying out the work.

f. Arrangements for the Public Meeting were discussed and actions agreed.

5. Any Other Business

a. Lea Manor Hotel. DH reported that gypsies had come and now left. MP & DB said that APC opposed the owner’s application for the site to be used for residential development as the Council felt that it should be retained as an hotel site. DH said it would be better to be developed for housing rather than it remaining un-occupied and becoming an eyesore and fly tipping site and he would write to SC in a personal capacity.

b. Historical Society.

David Harding had sent an email to say that ADCS members are welcome at any of their meetings on the first Monday of the month at 8pm in the Red House. The normal fee for visitors is £1.50, but they are offering entry for ADCS members at £1 at the following meetings:
- March 1st. D.M.Wood - Work of a master thatcher.
- Sept. 6th. Malcolm Astley - The buildings of Sir Christopher Wren.
- Nov. 1st. Roy Stallard - History of five Wolverhampton hospitals and Cosford.

c. Membership Register. DH will have this transferred from the current paper copy to electronic version so that it can also be used to record renewed memberships (or lapses) each year. The list to also allow us to copy members’ email addresses to allow us to send out notices to members (this to be done once we have set up email addresses for the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer – Post Meeting Note: a volunteer from the Red House BroadPlace has offered to do this)

d. No decision yet from EH concerning our request for Listing The Hollies.

e. List of Village Treasures. ACTION: MW has found the document and will provide it to ADCS.

f. List of Voluntary Organisations. This has now been updated by JB and will be issued to all at the public meeting and added to the website

g. Committee Meetings will usually be held on the first Friday of each month unless public holidays prevent this.

Date of next meeting: Friday 5th March at 2.00pm at David Hughes' house

(Following meeting on 2nd Friday, due to Easter Holiday i.e. Friday 9th April 2010)
