Minutes of the Committee Meeting of the

Albrighton & District Civic Society

held at APC Office, 82B High St, Albrighton,

on Monday 5th September 2011 at 2pm

1. Apologies received from Peter Leigh, David Murray, John Bulmer, Hugh Hughes and Mike Pitchford

 

2. Minutes of Meeting of 4th August 2011 were approved

 

3. Main Current Issues

 

a. Entrance Scheme.

Management Plan submitted by JB was approved.

Planted Areas at Patshull Rd/A464 – DH said that the two areas damaged at the flood are still in a bad state but the third un-damaged area presents a very good appearance.

ACTION: PW to follow up his request to Boningale PC Secretary for a meeting with Boningale PC Chairman.

Grant from Alb PC –DH reported that a cheque for £500 had been received. The Chairman, on behalf of the Society, asked DB and MW to thank Albrighton PC for their generous contribution.

There has been no response from Donington-with-Boscobel PC (Cllr Fred Shelley suggested that we write to ask them for a grant).  DB will follow up with Donington PC. 

 

b. Hanging Baskets and Planting Pods Scheme.

The Flower Show misunderstood our initial request for help and we shall confirm that we were not looking for financial assistance, but only their participation in possible maintenance etc.

ACTION: PW will discuss further with Sue Pate who has agreed in principle to help.

 

c. Albrighton Station

HLF Officer has left and PW is making contact with the new case officer.  We will hold an informal meeting at the Station Building before the AGM with the Artist/Craftsmen/Historical Society to gauge their support.  ACTION:  PW to contact the various people who have shown interest.

ACTION:  PL will arrange to meet the officers of the Historical Society and request their participation at the meeting.

ACTION: RK will discuss with the Nature Reserve Group to check if they have an interest in participating. 

PW, RK, PL, DH will meet Richard Fortune (SC   Planning Officer) on 8 September, 2.30pm at the station to discuss parking and land use.

ACTION:  PW will ask Fiona Fortune (SC) to meet us to advise us on her list of possible funding sources.

  

 

d. Civic Society School Awards

PW will send the invitation to participate to all four schools.

 

4. a. Local Listing.  Michael Ward had not found the “List of Treasures” and so DB will search for it prior to next month’s meeting which will be attended by the Conservation Officer to discuss “local listing”.

 

b. Stroudley’s Yard.  DB reported that the second Planning Application had been rejected.

 

5.  AoB

 

a.  Sheldon Court.  Cllr Pate has advised that SC’s initial proposal to demolish and build three-bedroom houses has been scrapped.  RK said that “extra care housing” is needed in Albrighton and not just warden-care facilities.

 

b.  Meeting with SC.  ACTION:  PW will ask Chris Edwards and Steve Brown to come to one of our next meetings to discuss progress on the actions agreed with them at the meeting in May 2011.

 

6.  AGM Planning.  (Monday 24 October 2011)

It was agreed that two main topics will be dealt with – Albrighton Station and a Presentation by a SC Officer dealing with:-  changes at Shire Hall, Planning, Village Green Access Roads, contribution by SC Conservation Officer etc.

Chris Edwards, SC Area Director South – all SC matters

   

 

 

Next meeting:  2 p.m. Monday 3rd October 2011
