1.    Apologies received from Rod Smith & Ron Kidson

2.    Minutes of Meeting of 2 April 2012 were approved

3.   Station Project  PW reported that a decision on stage 2 application should be made on 7th June.  He also reported that the police security expert strongly recommended the use of a ‘Smoke Cloak’.

There had been an enquiry from Sarah Kileen regarding the possibility of selling cakes etc. from the building.

4.  Village Entrance Scheme  JB reported that the plantings at the end of Patshull Road were all doing well and that he had sprayed with weed killer.  A further 1000 daffodil bulbs had been ordered making a total of 2000 and MP with the help of John Foster would plant them.

JB also reported that he and PW had a meeting with Martin Sutton (Shropshire Council Chief Arboricultural Officer) who would support the phased replacement of the trees along the High Street with more suitable varieties.

5.  Schools Award Scheme it was reported that at the moment both Birchfield and Albrighton Primary are definitely going to take part and those entries would once again be on display in the library.

6.   Planning issues  it has now been agreed that ADCS would be a consultees on any local planning applications.

7.   LJC Meeting to be held at Tong Village Hall on Wednesday 23 May at 7.00pm, a decision should be made on our grant request to purchase planters.  The application was for £1200, the recommendation is to award £600.

8.  Visit by Brewood Civic Society  They are now requesting a visit on the evening of Tuesday 10th July.  The Albrighton tour to include The Shrewsbury Arms and the Old School House.  The tour to be conducted by Ernie Howells                                                      Action PW/PL

9.  Conservation/Civic Award Scheme  it was agreed that ADCS would instigate an awards scheme to be presented to people who have carried out outstanding restoration work on old buildings within the area covered by ADCS.  It was felt that a plaque which could be mounted on a suitable exterior wall as well as a certificate would be the most appropriate.  Those who would merit an immediate award would be reviewed by the Committee.

10.  Lea Hall Cottage, Newhouse Lane                                                                               Action PW

11. ADCS Leaflet Drop  MP reported that the leaflet had been emailed to Jenny Wynn who was responsible this year for printing of The Flower Show programme and that she had offered to include this in the programme at no charge to ADCS.

12. Hanging Basket Competition  nothing to report other than the fact that it was felt that to date the event had been poorly advertised.

13. Fayre Stall 14th July  PW and MP reported on the unfortunate response we had had regarding our request to have the stall in the same location as last year.  It will now be outside 33 High Street.

14. Any Other Business

a)   Meeson House has now been sold and is being renovated.

b) Rumbles Shop.  The issue of unsightly banners is being taken up with Mathew Knight, the SC Conservation Officer.                                                                         Action PW

c)  Drinking in the street.  Following Albrighton PC decision not to pursue the matter it was agreed that neither would ADCS at this point in time.

d) SAMDev  at the commencement of the meeting DB reported that a possible 4/500 houses may be applied for.  He said that Albrighton PC were in discussion with Jake Berriman & Kate Howie of SC as to whether to go down the Neighbourhood Plan or The Parish Plan or an hybrid of the two.  Whichever, it would have to comply with SC Core Strategy.  It is hopeful that SAMDev will recommend 150 houses, but there is always a danger that a higher development may be agreed.  All local groups – particularly ADCS need to be consulted.  There needs to be justification if a higher number is agreed by way of increased employment and the necessity of improved parking.

Next Meeting  Monday 11th June 2012 at 10am APC office when Chris Edwards (SC Director) is coming.

Please note the time of this next meeting
