The Monday October 29th AMPS film presentation, at Lighthouse Cinema Wolverhampton is a critically acclaimed, award laden certainty from Oscar winning director Damian Chazelle.

FIRST MAN tells the soul-stirring story of the life of the legendary American Astronaut Neil Armstrong between 1961-1969 and his journey to becoming the first human to walk the moon. Exploring the sacrifices and costs on the Nation and the Armstrong family, during one of the most dangerous missions in the history of space travel. Ryan Gosling stars with UK award winning actress Clair Foy (The Crown) as his wife Janet.

Armstrong is both a reluctant hero and a man mired in grief, following the loss of his two-year-old daughter Karen to an inoperable brain tumour in 1962.

“The film also gives an emotional undertow to the moon landing finale itself – which, it is implied, gives Armstrong the literally unearthly perspective required to process his heart-breaking loss. The less said in advance about this staggering sequence the better, other than that it crackles with eeriness and wonder, looks utterly real, and is the reason to see First Man on the biggest cinema screen you can find”. Robbie Collin. The Telegraph.
